Welcome to Montchauvet, April 14, 2008. It’s a rainy, dark day, as you can see. The restaurant is closed Monday, so there’s no bustle, but they are cooking stock, I think, and there is a lovely odor of baking. The church roof is being repaired (see scafolding and workers’ truck) and the house across the street (an old, 18th century house,) is being transformed into apartments. The people living on the square (myself included) are worried about parking. Already there are more cars than spaces, and we don’t want to have to encroach on the village green.
The churchbells are ringing – it’s noon. Otherwise, all is very quiet here. It is raining again, and my garden is soaked.
Another day in Montchauvet…
